Application data settings and education answers in Oracle HCM.
Structured data controls which categories of information Indeed asks job seekers for during the Indeed Apply flow: location, work experience, and education. Set each category to Do not ask, Optional, or Required when you configure application data during installation.
How your settings affect candidate records
A job seeker who applies to your jobs through Indeed might already have a candidate profile in your Oracle instance from an earlier application. When they apply again, Indeed updates that profile to match their new application. For each category, Indeed replaces the entries in the profile with the entries from the new application. A category you set to Do not ask, or one you set to Optional that the job seeker skips, ends up with no entries. This keeps the profile consistent with what the applicant actually submitted, so that it does not appear to hold an answer for a category you chose not to ask about.
Past applications are not affected. Each one keeps the information the job seeker provided at the time.
How Indeed delivers education answers
Where an answer appears in Oracle depends on whether the job seeker could choose it from your predefined list. An answer typed as free text might appear in a different field than you expect.
Job seekers select their school and degree from the lists your Oracle tenant provides. If their school or degree is not on a list or they cannot find it, they may select Other and type it instead.
An education entry normally appears in Oracle as the degree on the first line with the school beneath it. A degree typed as free text still appears this way, though it is not a recognized value in your list.
A school typed as free text cannot appear in the school position. So that the school is not lost, Indeed adds it to the degree line, where it appears before the degree separated by a hyphen. Values typed as free text are not selectable options in Oracle, so their dropdowns appear grayed out.
