Applicant tracking system (ATS) guidelines
Requirements for ATSs
Applicant tracking system (ATS) guidelines
An applicant tracking system (ATS) hosts employer career pages and tracks, sorts, screens, and reports on applications and hired candidates for its clients. The ATS is the system of record for all job data, recruitment processes, and dispositions.
For Indeed's standards for ad agencies, aggregators, and other content managers, see the Indeed Policy Center.
See Indeed Policy Center.
Minimum eligibility criteria
To qualify for an ATS multisource feed integration, the ATS must meet these requirements:
Minimum eligibility criteria| Required | - Support at least ten clients.
- Operate as a fully launched product with an established business presence and verifiable information online.
- Charge clients for the product.
- Vet clients rigorously to confirm legitimacy and prevent fraud.
- Make any ATS-wide talent network optional, and add a job seeker only with their full consent.
|
| Prohibited | - Beta or newly launched ATS products.
- Free tiers or free trials that allow job posting.
- Mandatory talent networks.
|
Job file requirements
Job file requirements| Required | Include: - All clients and their publicly available jobs.
- Only jobs for which the ATS is the system of record.
- Only jobs from established, paying clients who use the full ATS product for all job data.
|
| Prohibited | - Content from products other than the ATS product.
- Jobs that originate from other job boards or tracking systems.
- Clients on free trials, introductory offers, or free-to-post tiers.
- Content from clients under verification or investigation, or that Indeed deems suspicious or unverifiable.
|
Integration requirements
Integration requirements| Required | - Give clients access to Indeed Apply and Disposition Sync integrations.
- Expose screener questions through the Indeed Apply integration.
- For U.S.-based ATSs or ATSs with U.S.-based clients, provide EEO functionality.
- The ATS, the employer, or an Indeed-approved third party that the employer designates can provide Indeed Apply.
- Before a third party builds integrations on behalf of a direct employer, Indeed vets and approves the third party.
- Use Indeed granular source attribution to clearly identify Indeed applicants.
|
Client information requirements| Required | Provide a current, valid corporate email address for each client. Indeed's privacy policy governs these email addresses. See Privacy FAQ. |
Incorrect or incomplete information lowers visibility.
Client exclusivity
An ATS's clients cannot use a different ATS on their company website.
For example, if Indeed receives a file for an ATS and finds that one of its clients, company X, uses a different ATS on companyxwebsiteexample.com, the ATS cannot include company X in its file.
Staffing and recruitment content
Segment any staffing or recruitment content into separate XML files.
For Job Sync API integrations, use metadata to label the content in the appropriate API fields.
Job data and policies
Job data and policies| Required | - Match all job data in the ATS file to the job data on the client's career site.
- Give every job a landing page with a job description.
- Comply with Indeed's policies, including the Job Posting Standards.
